401(k) Employer Match
Discretionary Matching Contribution
Each paycheck, Zuora will match 50% of your pre-tax and Roth deferrals to Zuora's 401(k) plan, up to 6% of your eligible compensation, with a maximum matching contribution of $2,000 each plan year.
Zuora's 401(k) plan year runs from February 1 - January 31 of each year, aligned to Zuora's fiscal year.
Examples:
Example 1: ZEO is deferring (either pre-tax or Roth) 6% of eligible compensation to their 401(k) account. Zuora will match 50% of those deferrals, which is 3% of eligible compensation for the pay period*:
| Example detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Annual Gross Salary | $175,000 |
| Per-Paycheck Gross Salary (Annual Gross Salary / 24 pay periods) | $7,291.67 |
| ZEO Per-Paycheck pre-tax or Roth Deferral (Per-Paycheck Gross Salary x ZEO 6% deferral) | $437.50 |
| Zuora Per-Paycheck Match Contribution* (Per-Paycheck Gross Salary x 3% (50% of 6%)) | $218.75 |
*Once Zuora contributes $2,000 in the plan year, per-paycheck matching contributions will cease.
Example 2: ZEO is deferring (either pre-tax or Roth) 10% of eligible compensation to their 401(k) account. Zuora will match 50% of those deferrals BUT the match will be capped at 3% of eligible compensation for the pay period*:
| Example detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Annual Gross Salary | $175,000 |
| Per-Paycheck Gross Salary (Annual Gross Salary / 24 pay periods) | $7,291.67 |
| ZEO Per-Paycheck pre-tax or Roth Deferral (Per-Paycheck Gross Salary x ZEO 10% deferral) | $729.17 |
| Zuora Per-Paycheck Match Contribution* (Per-Paycheck Gross Salary x 3% (50% of 6%)) | $218.75 |
*Once Zuora contributes $2,000 in the plan year, per-paycheck matching contributions will cease.
Reminder
Zuora will match 50% of your pre-tax or Roth deferrals, but the match will never exceed 3% of your eligible compensation for a pay period. There is also a $2,000 cap on matching contributions each plan year.
True-Up Contribution
If you are employed by Zuora on the last day of the plan year, January 31, you will be eligible to receive a “true-up” contribution from Zuora so that you can maximize your match even if your deferral rate varies during the plan year. This “true-up” contribution will be made generally within 120 days after the end of the plan year ending.
For example:
| Example detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Annual Gross Salary | $300,000 |
| Per-Paycheck Gross Salary | $12,500 |
| ZEO 401(k) Deferral | 80% |
| ZEO Per-Paycheck pre-tax or Roth Deferral | $10,000 |
| Zuora Per-Paycheck Match Contribution | $375 |
- By the 3rd paycheck, this ZEO will have contributed their maximum contribution for the year ($23,500) but will have only received $1,125 in matching contributions.
- If employed on January 31, 2026, ZEO would receive a “true-up” contribution of $875 ($2,000 - $1,125).
Employee Deferrals
| Age | 2026 IRS Maximum Employee Deferral Limit |
|---|---|
| Under age 50 | $24,500 |
| Ages 50-59, 64+ | $32,500 |
| Ages 60 - 63 | $35,450 |
The annual limit is inclusive of all employee deferrals made during the calendar year with all employers.
If you are a new hire, please take into account any 401(k) contributions that were made within the calendar year to a prior employer’s 401(k) plan when determining the amount you will be contributing to your Zuora 401(k).
Deferrals
You may elect to defer a percentage (0-100%) of your eligible compensation into the Plan. The Plan permits you to make pre-tax, Roth, and after-tax deferrals. Your percentage election applies to all eligible compensation including bonus and commission. A separate election for bonus and commissions payments is not allowed.
You can update your deferral percentage any time through the year on Fidelity's website. It will take one to two pay periods for any changes to take effect.
Contribution Flexibility
You can choose between deferring your income on a pre-tax, Roth, and/or after-tax basis - as long as your total contribution doesn’t exceed IRS limits.
| Contribution Type | Details |
|---|---|
| Pre-tax | • Contribute pre-tax • Upon withdrawal in retirement, pay ordinary income taxes on contributions and earnings |
| Roth | • Contribute after-tax • Upon withdrawal in retirement, pay no taxes on contributions or earnings |
| After-tax (Back Door Roth) | • Contribute additional funds after-tax after you've maxed out your regular contributions • If after-tax contributions are converted into the Roth source through the Roth in-plan conversion feature, the converted contributions and any earnings accrued after the conversion can grow tax-free, provided IRS Roth rules are met at the time of withdrawal • Limit of 10% deferral election |
